Turn of the Millennium Sci-Fi Adventure 'Galaxy of Pen & Paper' Hits the App Store

It figures that after I posted our weekly Out Now post where I mentioned that Behold Studio's highly anticipated Galaxy of Pen & Paper hadn't released yet that it would find its way to the App Store mere minutes later. That said, I have no problem writing up an extra post to alert all you fine and lovely people that at long last Galaxy of Pen & Paper [$4.99] is available in the App Store! Behold's original Knights of Pen & Paper [$4.99] released in 2012 and was a quirky if imbalanced love letter to old-school pen and paper gaming in a slick mobile game format. It had a ton of personality, and the following year Behold teamed up with the folks from Paradox Interactive to release a huge "+1" version of the game. A sequel was also planned but with Behold busy on other projects like Chroma Squad [$4.99] the sequel was left to KYY Games. Knights of Pen & Paper 2 [Free] did a lot of things right, but didn't quite live up to the original.

Then last December Behold announced Galaxy of Pen & Paper, a sci-fi take on the game-within-a-game concept that they hoped would be a return to form for the series. Based on the amazing trailer above, I'd say they're definitely on the right track. One of the biggest aspects of Galaxy of Pen & Paper compared to its predecessors is that it's a completely premium game with no IAP, and according to the game's App Store text it should stay that way forever. The previous games definitely had a gindy feel to them likely due to the inclusion of IAP, so I'm quite looking forward to a premium experience here. So if you've been anxiously awaiting this one the time has finally arrived and you can grab Galaxy of Pen & Paper for $4.99 from the link below. And as always the game has a thread in our forums where folks are talking about the game and you can leave your own thoughts as well.

Aww yiss, we finally get a look at all 14 of Monster Hunter World’s weapons

Monster Hunter World hopefuls finally get the info drop they’ve been waiting for.

There are 14 weapons in Monster Hunter World, something we’ve known pretty much since the E3 2017 reveal, but although we’re not expecting any new archetypes there have been some changes to your old favourites.

We’ve already seen a bit of how the bowgun has changed from an in-menu perspective in a recent look at Monster Hunter World’s weapon and armour systems, but Capcom Japan has now provided 30 second clips of all 14 weapons in action so we can really get an eye full of how each weapon type plays.

To save you some effort, Arekkz has stitched all the little videos together so you can watch them all in one hit, and has promised a follow-up video going into detail on what his eagle eyes spotted that the rest of us may have missed.

As you’ll see, there are some pretty cool changes in Monster Hunter World. The insect glaive and sword and shield both have more aerial moves, and the gunlance and light bowgun both seem capable of embedding explosives – although it’s not clear what the rules are for that, as we see the former lodge a shell in a monster and the latter create a kind of landmine in the terrain.

We still have a while to wait before Monster Hunter World’s 2018 release, but it looks like Capcom is now letting the curtains draw back a little. Prior to these videos we’d only seen the greatsword and bowgun in action in Monster Hunter World demos, so it’s really nice to know the others are in and working already.

Take a look at the Kill-tracker Ghost available through Destiny 2’s headache-inducing pre-order bonus scheme

Coldheart isn’t the only Destiny 2 pre-order bonus, by the way.

Destiny 2 pre-orders come with a variety of bonuses depending on where you choose to splash your early cash.

Everyone’s talking about this today for two reasons. First is that Bungie revealed the Coldheart exotic trace rifle exclusive to Destiny 2 pre-orders. This applies to all pre-orders, everywhere, whether it’s digital, retail, standard or a fancy edition. It was probably announced to sweeten the deal now that the Destiny 2 beta has concluded, as that was previously one of the key pre-order bonuses.

The other reason is that GAME released a video of another Destiny 2 pre-order bonus in action. Behold the Kill-tracker Ghost:

So how do you get the Kill-tracker Ghosts? This is where it all gets a bit messy, because the Kill-tracker Ghost and salute emote are spread out across various retailers, so that it’s difficult to get both in one purchase if you want a physical game box.

For example, in Australia JB Hi-Fi is offering the salute emote with all Destiny 2 pre-orders, while EB Games is offering the Kill-Tracker Ghost with pre-orders of its steelbook bundle edition, which replaced the sold out Limited Edition, in addition to the Cayde-6 figure it’s giving away with all Destiny 2 pre-orders.

Meanwhile, if you want everything, digital pre-orders of Destiny 2 through Battle.net, the PlayStation Store or Xbox One marketplace include the salute emote, Kill-tracker Ghost as well as the Coldheart exotic trace rifle – but not the figures many retailers are offering, of course.

Just to make the situation just that little bit more confusing, digital Destiny 2 pre-orders through the PlayStation Store also include a dynamic theme. Got to keep one-upping Xbox as part of Sony and Activision’s sweetheart deal, hey.

So what you should you do? Goodness knows. Here’s one thing, though: as Arekkz points out in his video on Destiny 2 pre-order bonuses below, in the fine print we can see that the Coldheart will be available to everyone else from December 5. Unfortunately we don’t know whether it will be sold or just unlocked or what – or whether the other bonuses will stay exclusive to pre-orders. It’s tempting to assume not, although the red Ghost shell that came as a bonus with some editions of Destiny was exclusive for a full year.

In any case: what a mess! This is almost Ubisoft levels of confusion. Destiny 2 comes out on September 6 for consoles at which point we can put this whole thing behind us and get on with playing it, which will be nice.
